Darling.
People use it all the time.
My coffee lady, Lydia, says it to me everytime I see her.
Micheal says it to his girlfriend, Judy, every time she's over.
And it has no southern twang I would've associated with it previously (think the song about Clemetine).
And it's not in a stuffy British way, either. Just simple and sweet. Like amigo for gringos ;)

Do they ever say 'Pleasure' instead of 'You're Welcome'? That's what the South Africans say and it makes my knees go wobbly. Amazing how an accent and a few different phrases can make the english language sing!
